Chapter Organization
The Artemis Society of Dallas is divided into committees. Each committee is
responsible for a specific area of the opertions of the chapter. For example, the
ASD Financial Committee is responsible for overseeing all financial actions taken by the
chapter. Each committee creates subcommittees or project teams as necessary to
oversee the individual operations of the committee.
The only requirement for joining a committee is a desire to do so and a currently active
membership in the Artemis Society of Dallas.
Each subcommittee is responsible for some overall facet of a committee's
operation. For example, the ASD Fund Raising Subcommittee is responsible for managing
all of the fund raising operations undertaken by the ASD Financial Committee. Every
member of a subcommittee must also be a member of the parent committee. There
are no other requirements for subcommittee membership.
Committees and subcommittees elect their own officers by majority vote of the committee
members present. Committee and subcommittee officers consist of:
- Chairman
- Treasurer
- Secretary
Certain committees and subcommittees may have additional requirements or restrictions
regarding who may be officers of the committee or subcommittee. For example, the
Treasurer of the ASD is automatically the Chairman of the ASD Financial Committee.
Committees and subcommittees hold committee meetings separate from the normal meetings of
ASD. The committee chairmen are required to submit a committee report at each
regularly scheduled meeting of the ASD. Similarly, subcommittee chairmen are required
to submit a subcommittee report at each regularly scheduled meeting of their parent
committee. In both cases the report shall contain a financial statement accounting
for the use of funds (if any) allocated to the committee.
Committees and subcommittees alike form project teams to administer individual projects
for the committee. For example, if the ASD Fund Raising Subcommittee decided to hold
a bake sale to raise funds for the chapter, a project team would be formed to oversee the
bake sale and would be disbanded once this project was complete.
The only officer on the project team is the team leader. He or she is elected by
majority vote of the parent committee or subcommittee members present during his/her
appointment. The team leader must be a member of the project team's parent committee
or subcommittee. However, there is no requirement that team members must be members
of the appropriate committee or subcommittee. This allows project teams to recruit
labor from the membership at large.
Each team leader must submit a project report at each regularly scheduled meeting of the
team's parent committee or subcommittee. This report shall contain a financial
statement accounting for the use of funds (if any) allocated to the project team.
